Mr Kshem Yapa

An award winning plastic surgeon specialising in facial cosmetic surgery, rhinoplasty and breast and body plastic surgery procedures.

Mr Kshem Yapa is a highly trained and board certified London based plastic surgeon (on the GMC specialist register for plastic surgery). He is committed to delivering natural results that surpass his patients’ expectations and improve their lives and self-confidence. He is known for offering an honest and friendly approach. He is fully trained in all aspects of cosmetic surgery and sub-specialises in advanced facial rejuvenation techniques including deep plane facelift, deep neck lift and lip lift as well as ultrasonic rhinoplasty, having trained in these techniques in the United States and Paris. He also offers a range of cosmetic breast and body procedures.

Mr Yapa prides himself on driving innovation and excellence within plastic surgery, having published over 30 peer-review articles and winning the Best Investigator Award (American Society of Plastic Surgeons meeting and American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons Annual Meeting San Diego). He specialised in the study of stem cells, the research of scarless healing and the development of the face.

Mr Yapa holds both private practice and NHS roles within which he is committed to raising the standard of patient safety and delivering the highest standards of care with an honest, kind and open approach. All his patients describe him as kind, caring, and professional. In his NHS role he works as a consultant at the prestigious Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. He featured in a Channel 4 Documentary “Emergency”, which looked at the trauma networks across London NHS trauma centres and the role of plastic surgeons in the care of these patients.

He conducts his private practice in the world famous private Lindo Wing of St Marys Hospital and St John and Elizabeths’ Hospital and consults patients in his private rooms on Harley Street.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Mr Yapa’s background and credentials are truly impressive.

Mr Yapa graduated from Cambridge University and completed a PhD at Stanford University in California and King’s College London. He developed an early interest in plastic surgery during placements at Harvard University and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS (Plast), is fully certified on the specialist register for plastic surgery. In addition to a cosmetic surgery fellowships in Manchester, Mr Kshem Yapa has had international training in the United States, Paris and London, and believes in the sharing of knowledge and best techniques from around the world to improve patient outcomes and provide the most up to date care. He is a full member of the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), the British Association of Aesthetic Surgeons (BAAPS), the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) and an international member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).

CONSULTANT ANAESTHETIST

Dr Emma Katherine James MBBS BSc FRCA

Dr James is an experienced Consultant in Anaesthesia at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Her sub-speciality interests include General & Bariatric Surgery, Complex Vascular, Plastics and Major Trauma. She trained at Imperial College, London and has a further degree in Management (Imperial Business School).

She has set up and leads the Imperial CESR training programme for anaesthesia, International Medical Graduates (IMG Anaesthesia) and sub-speciality fellowships for which she has received the 2023 Division of Surgery, Cancer, and Cardiovascular Education Award for ‘Best Innovation’.

She is passionate about the provision of holistic anaesthetic care, enhanced recovery and lifestyle medicine. Her research interests parallel her expertise as Point of Care Lead in viscoelastic testing for coagulopathy in major haemorrhage ensuring appropriate usage of blood products.

CONSULTANT ANAESTHETIST

Dr Asela Dharmadasa MA. BM BCh. FRCA

Dr Dharmadasa has a decade of experience as a Consultant Anaesthetist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, where he routinely manages complex elective and emergency cases. He trained in Clinical Medicine at the University of Oxford where he won the Bristol-Myers-Squibb Prize in Cardiology.

He is a keen educator and was awarded the London School of Anaesthesia’s College Tutor Award (for NW London) in 2021. He co-authored an Anaesthetic Textbook that was Highly Commended in the 2014 British Medical Association Book Awards, published several research papers and reviews, and is named as the primary inventor in two patents for a novel medical device.

Dr Dharmadasa is passionate about patient safety. He won first prize at a National Conference for designing a tool to improve patient safety in Obstetric Anaesthesia. Its efficacy was recently independently corroborated in California.
